Painting and Finishing

This is a large subject and deserves a lot more space than can be given here. Having gone to all this trouble, so many models and not just the track, are spoilt by bad painting, so be very careful and do not overpaint the whole thing in drab colours, there are many colour varations in the prototype. It is easiest to use on airbrush for painting - far easier than brushes and it makes the mixing and blending of colours easier. Weathering is simply applied during painting to places where the ballast would receive scant maintenance. Use Talcum powder, sprinkled on during airbrushing to get that weathered appearance, the powder and the paint tend to clog the gaps between the stones and will look more effective. Do not use enamel paints for this job.
