Solder Cream

We now have our popular solder creams available once again. Brunel Models Solder Cream 179 and 138. These are the same solder creams that we sold as Carr's No Clean Solder Cream 179 and 138. Solder cream 179 sells for $49.90, a slight price increase, but the good news is that the 138 Solder Cream is now the same price! Each solder cream is supplied in a syringe and comes with a metal micro nozzle.

These solder creams are "no clean" and "no residue" which means that you can solder with virtually no need to clean up afterwards. You also need very little solder to produce an excellent joint. The micro nozzle allows you to apply the minimum amount to solder the joint. The 179 cream melts at 179Deg C and is particularly suited for soldering the main components of an engine or coach together (eg: chasis, body, etc). The 138 cream melts at 138Deg C and is particularly suited for small components and detailing. It can also be used for soldering white metal components to brass - you will need to practice however!

Solders

There has been no impact on the supply of solder for Australian modellers due to the European Union ban on solders containing lead. Although solders containing lead are banned in the European Union (EU) for the production of electronic equipment this ban does not extend to banning the production and use of solders for other purposes (see EU Directive for the use of "Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment").
In Australia there is no move to follow the EU and the suppliers of Brunel Models solder have assured us that the EU ban will have no impact on the supply of our solders to our Australian and international customers.

Note that the melting point specified for solder is the point at which it first starts to melt. Normally a higher temperature is required to cause it to flow appropriately for the soldering being undertaken.
